Frequently Asked Questions
If you're wondering about anything regarding us and our tours, chances are you're not the first. Here you'll find answers to the questions we recieve most often.
Our RIB-tours are suitable for children aged five and up. Provided you're in good health, there’s no real maximum age for joining, the oldest passengers we’ve had along were well past their ninetieth birthday and they had a great time. Skimming the waters on a RIB is exhilarating, but not extreme in any sense
Yes, we’re well prepared to head out in most any weather. Our boats are sturdy, and we provide all passengers with protective goggles and water-resistant floatation suits that feature a wraparound hood. Of course, if the weather gets truly bad to the extent that it poses a safety risk to anyone onboard, rest assured that we will without hesitation cancel our departure and offer everyone a full refund.
The average speed of the boat in a typical tour will be about 35 knots (65 km/h), the acceleration curve is however stable, and you will not experience any sudden fluctuations. The course itself is steady and straightforward with no drastic turns or maneuvers. You are unlikely to experience the speed of the boat as discomforting.
It is very rare that any of our passengers get seasick. Our RIBs cut through waves and don’t sway the same way other boats do. Their open design also allow passengers to maintain a constant view of the horizon, which helps align the visual and vestibular (inner ear) inputs, which plays a crucial role in preventing the disorientation that can cause seasickness.
We would advise against participating in RIB tours for the following individuals. 1) Persons with severe pre-existing neck or back conditions. 2) Pregnant women beyond their first trimester. 3) Individuals diagnosed with osteoporosis or other conditions that result in brittle bones. If you’re unsure about whether you should join our tours, don’t hesitate to reach out. We can put you directly on the phone with our experienced captains if necessary.
Our tours depart from Stavanger Harbor at Strandkaien 37 and return to the same location.
Of course, we're always happy to help. Reach out to us with the time and place and we can make an order on your behalf. If you’d like to book yourself, we would recommend 07000 Taxi.
Yes, there is a public handicap-friendly restroom about 20 meters from the floating dock where our tours depart. We naturally recommend you use it beforehand. Do note that this facility has paid entry.
• Stavanger - Strandkaien or Skagenkaien (most common docking point): Just a 5-minute walk to our departure location. • Stavanger - Konserthuskaien: About a 15-minute walk along the waterfront. • Somaneset - Sandnes: A 20-minute taxi ride to Stavanger (longer during rush hour). • Mekjarvik: About a 30-minute drive, cruises usually provide free shuttle busses to the city center.
For tours that incorporate a hike, you should wear sturdy hiking boots and weather-appropriate layers. On warm days, bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat, while on cold days, a beanie, neck gaiter, and gloves are recommended. Additionally, pack a backpack with 1-2 liters of water, snacks or a packed lunch (such as energy bars, nuts, or fruit), a camera, a cellphone, and a sitting pad for comfort.
