Fjords and Coastal Waters

The region features a network of fjords, islands, and sheltered bays, creating a rich marine habitat. These waters support various fish species and provide feeding grounds for seabirds and marine mammals.

Cliffs and Rocky Shores

Steep rock faces and scattered skerries along the coastline offer resting spots for seals and nesting sites for seabirds. The dramatic landscape, shaped by glacial activity, defines the rugged beauty of the area.

Forests Beyond the Fjords

Wildlife You Might Encounter

Harbour Porpoise – One of the most commonly observed marine mammals in these waters, often seen surfacing briefly before disappearing again.

Harbour Seal – Frequently spotted resting on rocky shores or swimming in sheltered areas.

Northern Gannet – A large seabird known for its high-speed dives into the water to catch fish.

Wild Fish Species – Atlantic cod, pollock, Atlantic mackerel, Atlantic halibut, haddock, plaice, herring.

Orcas & Dolphins  – Though uncommon, orcas (killer whales) and dolphins have been observed in the region. Sightings are rare and unpredictable.
