Embark on an unforgettable adventure to the top of the world’s longest wooden staircase

Stairway to Heaven

Nestled deep inside the breathtaking beauty of the Lysefjord, Flørli is a tranquil retreat with a rich history as a hydroelectric powerhouse. Stretching steeply up the mountainside, the 4444 steps were originally built for workers to service pipelines high above the fjord. As technology advanced, Flørli’s hydropower plant was moved inside the mountain, and the steps today remain as remnants of a bygone era.

Our tour invites you to take a walk through history and climb these iconic steps for yourself. It might prove a challenge, making it to the top equals climbing the Empire-State building almost two times over, but you won't be alone. Your captain will join you on the hike, cheering you on and sharing captivating stories about Flørli’s remarkable history. When you finally emerge at the top, 740 meters above the fjord, we promise you that the stunning view that awaits you is a prize worthy of the climb.

Straight to Adventure: Make your whole Flørli experience into an adventure by choosing a RIB. Glide through the breathtaking Lysefjord, passing dramatic cliffs, cascading waterfalls, and secluded coves. The open-air design of the RIB lets you immerse yourself in the natural beauty around you, making every moment of the journey as exciting and memorable as the destination itself.

Step by Step Together: Enjoy a fully guided experience, both on the exhilarating RIB journey and during the hike. Your knowledgeable guide will provide fascinating insights into the Lysefjord, while also ensuring your hike up the steps is safe, enjoyable, and enriched with stories about the Flørli's unique history.

Discover Flørli's Charm: After your hike, take time to relax at the old power station, which has been repurposed to house both a charming restaurant, where you can savor homemade dishes and hearty treats, and the Flørli museum, where you’ll learn more about the village’s fascinating history and see authentic artifacts from its industrious past.

Choose Your Challenge: You don’t have to climb all 4444 steps to experience the magic of Flørli. You can opt for a shorter trek of about 1000 steps, which leads to a panoramic viewpoint that offers almost as stunning a vista as the top. This alternative is perfect for families or anyone looking for a less demanding climb while still enjoying the incredible scenery.
